The Fairhope High School Jazz Ensemble has a long tradition of excellence. The band has competed in many festivals, including the Loyola Jazz Festival at Loyola University, the University of South Alabama Jazz Festival, and the University of Mobile Jazz Festival. The band has consistently received superior ratings in festivals for more than 25 years.
Our students consistently receive scholarships based on their abilities learned in the jazz ensemble.
Each year, the FHS Jazz Ensemble students audition for the Alabama All-State Jazz Ensemble. Our program has been represented well since the inception of the All-State Jazz Band.
Additionally, we have placed students in the Jazz Band of America, a national festival held annually in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Congratulations to Jon-Grayson Kerr and Jake Newsome for making the Gold Jazz Band at Alabama All-State Jazz Band. These two young men performed in the All-State Jazz Band clinic and concert on the weekend of January 17-19 in Birmingham. Both students represented Fairhope well!
FHS Jazz Ensemble will perform in the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival on Friday, March 15. The time slot for the middle school and high school jazz bands begins at 12:30. Fairhope Middle School Jazz Band will play first followed by Fairhope High School Jazz Band. The performance is at the corner of Magnolia and Section St.
